As the Indian Supreme Court has finished its marathon hearing in the Babri Mosque-Ram Temple case, the judgment is finally expected to come before retirement of the Chief Justice next month.[1] This post shall attempt to analyze the possible verdict (of the Supreme Court) in favor of a Ram-Temple from a subaltern perspective and deconstruct its far-reaching socio-political significance & consequences for the Bahujans or the Greater India.[2][3]

Disclaimer:- Kindly note that this post is not meant/intended to demean other religions or their figureheads. It is just a subaltern critique of the Ram-Temple issue based on proper facts, evidence, and circumstances.
As per the mainstream narratives, Rama may be a God of all Hindus and an ideal human being for many but great Bahujan ideologues like Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Periyar, etc have criticized/denounced him for his atrocities against the lower castes. On that note, the post argues, deconstructs and substantiates that a Ram-Temple on the disputed site in Ayodhya would not be in the best interest of the Bahujans at large and certainly not if it is going to be built over a place by destroying a Mosque despite being portrayed otherwise by certain Hindu Upper Caste organizations for their selfish gains.

You might be wondering as to what Bahujans have to do with this case (concerning title of the disputed land) between Hindus and Muslims. Even Bahujans are not aware that they have to do a lot with this case given the major argument/proposition of the Hindu-Brahmin side in favor of Ram-Temple rests primarily on the premise of faith and honor of Hindus.[4][5][6] And when they say Hindus, it includes Bahujans (Lower and Backward Caste Hindus who make up the 80% of the Hindu population) as well in the current scheme of things. But this is a trap to provide majoritarian legitimacy/color to an otherwise Brahmanical demand.[7][8] Bahujans have nothing to do with it nor they are going to derive any benefit from it, in case it is ever built. In fact, Ram was an elite Aryan upper-caste King who according to Dr. Ambedkar brutally suppressed Shudras & Bahujans or the greater population of India and therefore a historical nemesis of Bahujans. It would be outrageous to think that any right-minded Bahujan would demand a temple in the memory of their historical oppressor.[9] To draw an analogy, it would be akin to Jews demanding a temple for Hitler in the heart of Israel.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Views on King Rama-

Rama once consulted his council of learned Brahmins who told him that some Shudra (lower/backward caste) amongst his subjects is performing ascetic exercises reserved only for the twice borns (Hindu Upper Castes) and thereby going against the Dharma (sacred law) as the duty of the Shudras consists only in the service of the twice-born (Hindu Upper Castes). So, Rama mounted his beast and scoured the countryside for the culprit. In a wild region far away to the South, he found a man practicing rigorous austerities of a certain kind. He approached the man and when satisfied that he was the Shudra named ‘Sambuka’, took no time in cutting off his head. Rama then proceeded to the Ashram of the sage Agastya (a Brahmin), who applauded him for beheading the Shudra. Such was the Rama.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Riddles of Hinduism (Appendix 1 )

The murder of Bali is the greatest blot on the character of Rama. It was a crime that was thoroughly unprovoked, for Bali had no quarrel with Rama. It was the most cowardly act as Bali was unarmed. It was purely a planned and premeditated murder.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Riddles of Hinduism (Appendix 1 )

From the description of the Zenana (Palace) of Rama as given by Valmiki it was by no means a mean thing. There were beautiful women brought from different parts of India accomplished in dancing and singing. Rama sat in the midst of these women drinking and dancing. They pleased Rama and Rama garlanded them.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Riddles of Hinduism (Appendix 1 )

Now some Brahmins and other upper castes Hindus (hereinafter OUCHs) might come up with hordes of weird explanations/justifications for what Rama did or did not do but a perusal of the above lines shows that the value and social system that Rama stood for stands in total contrast with the egalitarian Islamic values that a Mosque stands for and the transformative values enshrined in the Ambedkarite Constitution of India. [10] Whereas the Indian Constitution proclaims India to be a Democratic Republic, Rama ran a system of Monarchy and Hereditary Succession. Whereas the Indian constitution enjoins the State not to deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India nor discriminate against any citizen on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth, etc, Rama’s polity suppressed the interest of Shudras and advanced the cause of only Brahmins and other Upper Castes Hindus-the so-called Twice Borns. Likewise, what Rama did to Baali, Sita, and Sambuka was in blatant violation of Article 21 of the Indian constitution which provides that no person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to the procedure established by law.

Keeping these considerations in mind, Bahujans should seriously contemplate if they really want a grand temple in the name & memory of such a casteist & unjust King who also happened to be their historic oppressor. King Rama who helped in maintaining the caste/racial dominance of a few upper castes by suppressing the Bahujans might be an ideal for many Hindu Upper Castes (who merely make the 10-15% of Indian population) who still seek to do the same (maintain their caste hegemony) over the Bahujan India but he can never be an ideal of Bahujans and lower castes no matter how much some Brahmins try to brainwash them.

They should also remember that it is the Bahujans who constitute the real and substantial majority in India as well as in Ayodhya.[11] Therefore any temple/monument in the name of their historical foe Rama would tantamount to an outrageous onslaught on the self-respect, honour & dignity of Bahujans who are culturally, socially, economically, politically and electorally more aligned with the Muslims than Brahmins and OUCHs who are still by and large dictated by their superfluous beliefs in ancient glory, racial superiority & blood purity as was the cases with the Nazis of Germany.[12][13][14] Since Islam forbids race or caste-based superiority, Muslims are naturally more closer to the Bahujans and to the Indian constitution than those Brahmins or OUCHs whose extreme love for their inglorious ancient glory, shastras, dharmas & rituals make their intent questionable.[15][16][17] Lower castes and Muslims have also faced similar kinds of untouchability, discrimination & disability at the hands of Brahmins and OUCHs. The only difference between them is that whereas the Bahujans never used force as such to throw off the yoke of untouchability and caste oppression/exploitation, many Indian Muslims rebelled and broke away as a separate nation.[18]

Furthermore, a Judgement in favor of a Ram-Temple on the disputed site in Ayodhya will not only be manifestly unIslamic but will also symbolize the triumph of age-old Brahmanical injustice & tyranny on India and Bahujans. It will surely be of no benefit to Bahujans as the concerned grand temple would be managed either by Brahmins or OUCHs who will collect all its funds and donations to further their exclusive causes for caste-based pan-India or subcontinental domination and portray it as a triumph of all Hindus. Bahujans will just foolishly go for ‘Darshan’, praise its grandeur and drain their hard-earned money into the deep pockets of Brahmins and OUCHs thus giving them fillip to keep making such lavish and eye-appealing structures/temples to attract the gullible and foolish Hindus especially the Bahujans. In sheepishly aiding this great superstition and fraud, Bahujans will be hurting their prospects in this world as well as in the next.

Generally speaking, the interest of Bahujans and rigid Hindu Upper Castes have historically been inversely proportional at both normative and descriptive levels.[19] At normative level, Hindu-Brahmanic scriptures give no rights to Bahujans but prescribe only duties to them which is to devoutly serve the higher castes without expecting anything in return.[20][21][22] Not so long ago, these Bahujan-Shudras were not even allowed to roam around temple precincts or dwelling places of Hindu upper castes.[23][24][25][26] But still, the Hindu Upper Castes organizations shamefully and easily relate these symbols of historic oppressions to the honor and faith of all Hindus including Bahujans just to strengthen their claims against Muslims and to outwardly give their petty and frivolous demands a majoritarian stamp. By using this majoritarian Hindu trap they have already caused so much damage to the interests of Bahujans, especially by sowing the seeds of hatred in their gullible minds against their Muslim brethren.[27]

While Hindu Upper Castes centric political parties shamefully expect Bahujans to vote for them and support their superficial civilizational claims but have never bothered to share the real political power with the latter. Whenever they have formed governments at central or state level with the help and support of Bahujan votes, such governments have been singularly dominated by Brahmins and OUCHs. Even today all organizations and movements (religious or otherwise) in the name and faith of Hindus are led and dominated by Brahmins and OUCHs.[28][29] It is because Bahujans or the lower castes Hindus neither have such rights under the Shastras (Hindu Brahmanical religious scriptures) nor they have any interest or faith in doing so.[30] They are just default Hindus made so by statutes (such as the Hindu Marriage Act 1955) enacted by successive governments led by Brahmins to give Brahmins and OUCHs a majoritarian feel in India because they on their own barely make the 10-15% of the Indian population. Bahujans especially the Dalits should also note that if not for the threat from Muslims and the demographic shift of Bahujans to Islam, Brahmin and OUCHs dominated Congress would never have accepted the demands of Dr. Ambedkar.

But for the Congress and the nationalists, the problem was the ML-SCF alliance (Muslim league and Schedule Caste Federation). If the Muslim League and the Muslims were to be singled out as the anti-national forces that were bent upon partition, then this alliance had to be broken. More than anything else, it was a question of the legitimacy of nationalism’s claims to represent the nation that were at the root of their discomfort. It is therefore, around this time that leaders like Sardar Patel proposed to negotiate with Ambedkar out of fear of the League.

To get political and electoral support of Bahujans in the Democratic India, many Brahmanical organisations have since long been brainwashing the Bahujans (Backward & Lower Caste Hindus) using various techniques such as Islamophobia, illusions of Hindu grandeur/glory, etc and of lately have been able to achieve some success which is evident in the form of a Government that openly advocates the exclusive demands of Hindu-Brahmins over and above the welfare of Bahujans.[31][32]

As far as Brahmanical claims of Hindu unity is concerned, two things are noteworthy. Firstly, their whole rationale and argument for Hindu unity emanates from the hatred for & alleged threat from egalitarian & proselytic religions like Muslims and Christianity and not from any intrinsic value as such of this superficial Unity (Brahmins and OUCHs would of-course deny that Islam or Christianity are egalitarian religions). Secondly, this Hindu unity is supposed to be restricted to only the electoral & social unity of all Hindus (against Muslims) and nothing more. There is no sharing of rights, powers and liabilities under this unity. Under this superficial unity, all Hindus are supposed to devoutly and collectively vote for Brahminical forces in elections to advance the cause of Hindu-Brahmin culture/glory against Muslims and Pakistan. By Hindu unity, they never mean inter-caste mingling of all Hindus by relations of marriage, etc because such unity is fundamentally against Hindu Shastras. If this is not the case then why don’t they (Brahmins) give-up the management and priestly rights over all temples including the future grand Ram-Temple to lower-caste Hindus and step aside as a goodwill gesture to make up for the centuries-old caste discrimination. They will not do so as this will seriously put in peril their centuries old efforts of religious domination/hegemony.[33] No wonder they might agree to make even this compromise as well in the future when faced with existential threat due to the demographic shift of the Bahujans (Greater India) to Islam.

Bahujans are advised to wake-up from their deep slumber and socio-politically & electorally organize themselves in good faith to safeguard their interests before it’s too late and before they foolishly lose their hard-won freedom once again to forces that are inimical to egalitarianism and rule of law. They should not be hoodwinked by the lustre and flamboyance of grand Hindu temples because underneath them lies the grandest of deceit and fraud mankind has ever seen. If they think that Brahmins have really undergone a change of heart, then they should not hesitate in verifying their sincerity by making the following demands next time they come to seek his/her precious vote or support-

  • Demand for inter-caste marital relationships with Hindu Upper Castes
  • Substantial Control in the management of All Hindu temples including the future Ram Temple

It is clear that Brahmanical forces will never agree to such ‘outrageous’ demands that threaten their exclusivity but even if they agree then Bahujans should make the second tier of scrutiny/analysis and ascertain the reasons behind such unexpected concession. Of a surety, it would be due to the alleged and perceived threat from Islam/Muslims or due to the fear of losing hard-earned political power because money and power matter the most to many Brahmins and OUCHs. In both cases, Bahujans must reject such concessions to better safeguard their interests and should instead prefer the way of Islam to lead this glorious nation on the path of justice, prosperity and success.[34

For years, Ayodhya and India have been the epicentre of fraudulent Brahmanical experiments. Buddhists and Jains in the ancient times and Muslims in the medieval times had attempted shutting down their fraudulent business using peaceful and coercive means but all of that will go in vain if a Ram-Temple is erected again in the Bahujan heartland of Ayodhya. The razing of the Babri-Mosque was an attack on the symbol of Human egalitarianism and the spirit of India which not only did adversely affect the Muslims but also jeopardized the interests and prospects of the Bahujans in numerous ways.

If Bahujans have to choose between a temple and a Mosque on the disputed site, they must certainly go for a Mosque on equitable grounds and for other obvious reasons (such as their interests are more aligned with Muslims than Upper Caste Hindus who are still by and large guided by their superfluous beliefs in ancient glory, caste superiority & blood purity. Whereas Bahujans were not even allowed to enter these temples not so long ago and still cannot preside over the rituals therein, the gates of Mosques have always been open for them to enter the fold of Islam on the basis of equity and justice. Therefore they should not fall for the emotive Brahmanical claims that Muslim rulers desecrated idols and temples. Even if they did, they did nothing wrong by broking the very symbols and source of their historic exploitation. Since Bahujans on their own could not do much to remove these symbols of oppression, they can perceive the alleged temple demolitions by Muslim rulers as a Divine Justice.[35] Moreover, Hindu Religion and Temples have been unequivocally condemned by great Bahujan ideologues for their inherent exploitative tendencies.

Though Islam forbids destruction of other’s places of worship ordinarily, a Muslim ruler in the interest of public good, morality, and justice can nonetheless regulate or order for demolition of such exploitative places which exploit the poor & the marginalised and enrich the rich. You will be surprised to know the reasons given by Aurangzeb for demolition of certain Hindu-Brahmanical temples.

Generations of Mughal kings had attempted to curb certain religious behaviors, especially those of errant Brahmins who, in Mughal eyes, took advantage of the less sophisticated. For example, Akbar took Brahmins to task for misrepresenting Hindu texts to lower castes and hoped that translating Sanskrit texts into Persian would prompt these (in his opinion), arrogant leaders, to reform their ways. Aurangzeb similarly evinced concern with elite Brahmins deceiving common Hindus about their own religion and was perhaps especially alarmed that Muslims were falling prey to charlatans. Brahmins may even have profited financially from such ventures. The French traveler Jean de Thevenot opined that Brahmins were numerous in Benares and ‘find their Profit’ in lavish festivals that drew large crowds. In such cases, Mughal royal obligations demanded strong intervention to prevent their subjects from being hoodwinked. For most temples in Benares and elsewhere, Aurangzeb ordered Mughal officials to investigate alleged dubious practices. But in the case of certain institutions, including the Vishvanatha and Keshava Deva Temples, he deemed demolition appropriate.

Audrey Truschke-Aurangzeb the Man and the Myth (Chapter 6)

Above excerpt shows that in most cases certain Brahmanical temples were demolished only after due investigation and in good faith to protect the innocent subjects from Brahmanical deceit and fraud. Now Bahujans have to decide if they want to continue to be hoodwinked by the flamboyance of Hindu-Brahmanism or work towards liberating their homeland from all its evil influences using peaceful means especially by socially, political and electorally allying with their Muslim brethren and other right thinking groups. If they choose the latter, it will be a befitting tribute to their oppressed ancestors (who were exploited & martyred under the caste system) and will also do a sustainable justice to their future generations. They should not forget that Ayodhya is their homeland first as it is they who make up its majority population and it is they who cultivate its fields and own its streets. They must not let their homeland be usurped by those who are hell-bent on making it an epicentre of fraud and superstition. Instead, they should march ahead on the path of equity, justice, and prosperity as mandated in Islam and as has been affirmed in the Ambedkarite constitution of India which many Brahmins detest for obvious reasons.[36][37] They must decide if they want to tread the path of Prophet Muhammad (s) who was like them (Most Prophets in Islam including Prophet Muhammad (s) came from deprived classes, rustic tribal backgrounds and faced poverty, destitution, social humiliation and ostracisation at the hands of dominant elites-[38][39][40]) and who preached and fought for the dignity & empowerment of the oppressed or the path of Rama who perpetuated monarchy, caste hierarchy and oppression of the Shudras as per Dr. Ambedkar and whose antecedents are highly controversial & questionable and whose values are inherently anti-constitutional & unIslamic. They should certainly not stand with those who want to build a grand temple in the memory of a casteist, hereditary and unjust King by razing a place of worship meant for God Almighty and which was a symbol of social and divine justice. Bahujans should at least refrain from such sinful and extremely blasphemous exercise if they do not have the courage to do justice and stand beside their oppressed Muslim brethren in India.

O ye who believe! stand out firmly for God Almighty, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Him. For He is well-acquainted with all that you do.

Al-Quran 5:8

And the places of worship are for God alone: So invoke not any one along with the Him.

Al-Quran 72:18

Whoever rallies to a good cause shall have a share in its blessing; and whoever rallies to an evil cause shall be answerable for his/her part in it: for, indeed, the Almighty watches over everything.

Al-Quran 4:85
